Dermatology is the branch of medicine that deals with skin, mucous membranes, hair and nails. Although relatively straightforward to examine, the skin is the largest organ and has numerous potential abnormalities - there are about 1500 distinct skin diseases and many variants.

As a consultant dermatologist, Dr Britton specialises in all skin issues and abnormalities. Here are some of the main areas we treat:

Skin cancer diagnosis including melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma.

Full body skin cancer and mole checks and photo mapping.

Skin cancer surgery with careful near painless local anaesthetic technique and excellent cosmetic outcomes.

Removal of harmless moles, cysts and other benign skin lesions.

Wound care and lower leg problems.

He is expert in the use of cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen) able to treat sun damage, warts and lighten brown areas of solar lentigo.

Dr Britton is a well-respected consultant dermatologist and has over 25 years’ experience in the specialty. His expertise includes:

He has a large practice of patients with many other skin conditions. These include acne using isotretinoin (Roaccutane) and psoriasis using biologicals (the new injectable treatments for psoriasis). He has a very simple approach to eczema to reduce inflammation in the damaged skin barrier by showing patients how to use topical treatments with excellent results.

Hair and nail conditions are diagnosed and managed where possible. 

Most important to him is to support a person as an individual, knowing how how much long term skin conditions can affect a someone’s life.
